In context

With the covenant renewed, Moses gives the people the Lord’s plans for the tabernacle (Exodus 35:1–19). The gifts come from everyone “whose heart stirred him up”: gold jewelry from men and women, colored yarn, linen, skins, wood, silver and bronze, and precious stones from the leaders, while skilled women spin the yarn and the goats’ hair (35:21–28). The gifts keep coming every morning until the workers tell Moses there is “much more than enough,” and he has the camp told to stop (36:3–7).

Bezalel and Oholiab lead the work, and the Lord has also given them the ability to teach others (35:30–35). Then the making is told in nearly the same words as the plans in chapters 25–31: the curtains, the boards, the veil, the ark with its mercy seat and cherubim, the table, and the lamp stand, made from a talent of pure gold, about 66 pounds (36:8–37:24). Chapter 37 ends with the incense altar, the anointing oil and the incense (37:25–29).

A word of hope
Let the favor of the Lord our God be on us. Establish the work of our hands for us. Yes, establish the work of our hands.

Psalms 90:17 · Psalm 90, titled “A Prayer by Moses,” asks God to “establish the work of our hands”; here Israel’s hands build the tabernacle.
