What we keep
Your email address (to send sign-in codes), your passkeys’ public keys (the private half never leaves your device), and the highlights, notes, bookmarks and listening place you save. Notes you leave for the editors are seen by the editors, without your email address. Feedback you send (Send feedback, at the foot of every page) is kept with your email address, so the editors can write back. Nothing is sold or shared, there are no ads, and deleting your account deletes all of it, feedback included.
Your church tradition and text size, if you choose them, are kept on this device and, signed in, with your account; the tradition only sets which books the reading plan includes and which hymns show first. If you ask for the morning email, we keep the hour, your time zone and the date the last one went, and they go when you stop it.
Questions you ask Ask (an AI) go to Anthropic to be answered and aren’t kept by us, unless you report an answer, which keeps that question and answer for the editors to look at.
Page views are counted, with no cookie and nothing stored on your device: the page’s address, the site you came from, and whether you’re on a phone, tablet or computer. A visitor is counted by a code made fresh each day from your connection, which can’t be turned back into who you are and means nothing the next day. Nothing follows you from page to page or day to day, here or elsewhere.
If you support the site, Stripe takes the payment on its own page and keeps your card details and the email address you give it, under Stripe’s privacy policy. We see the amount and Stripe’s number for you, not your card.
Accounts are for people 13 and older. We follow the US Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA): we don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and we don’t keep the birth year we ask for. Younger readers can read everything without an account.
