Matthew ends his book in . The eleven went there, to the mountain where had sent them.

When they saw him, they bowed down to him, but some doubted.

Jesus came to them and spoke to them. He said, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go and make disciples of all nations, them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the , teaching them to observe all things that I commanded you. Look, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

Mark says that Jesus appeared to the eleven as they sat at the table. He rebuked them for not believing and for their stubborn hearts, because they hadn’t believed those who had seen him after he had risen.

He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to the whole creation. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who disbelieves will be condemned. These signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out ; they will speak with new languages; they will take up ; and if they drink any deadly thing, it will in no way hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

So, after the Lord had spoken to them, he was taken up to heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.

They went out and preached everywhere. The Lord worked with them and showed the message was true by the signs that followed. Amen.

Luke tells how the eleven were gathered together in with others, and Jesus himself stood among them.

He led them out as far as , and there he lifted up his hands and blessed them.

As he blessed them, he went away from them and was carried up into heaven.

They worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy.

They were in the temple all the time, praising and blessing God. Amen.
